V&A celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Parisian fashion house KENZO with a Fashion in Motion event Renowned for its colourful hues and lively prints, KENZO surged to fame under the auspices of founder Kenzo Takada in the 1970s. Takada remained at the helm for three decades, retiring in 1999. The appointment of Italian designer Antonio Marras, first as womenswear designer in 2003, then as Creative Director in 2008, heralded a second coming for the label and saw a continuation of the signature poetic, striking and rich creations. As a result, KENZO enjoys ongoing critical acclaim and its influence can be seen in a wave of young designers.
